RPE explained for racket-sport strength training

RPE is a person’s rating of how hard an effort felt. It is a communication aid, not a diagnosis or a complete measure of training load.

The decision in context

The same task can receive different ratings on different days because RPE describes a subjective experience of effort.

How to apply it this week

Pair an RPE note with the activity, court schedule and purpose of the session. A number without context cannot tell you whether a player is ready.

The trade-off to name

More context improves interpretation but adds recording effort; a lone number is quick but ambiguous.

Where the answer stops

This page is educational planning context. It does not diagnose symptoms, set an individual load, replace court practice or qualified advice, or guarantee a sport result.
